friday fancys | furniture edition

It's Friday folks!  I have many loves in this life and furniture takes top of the list. Vintage furniture to be exact. Nothing makes me happier than a no budget trip to the antique shops - wait, I don't know what that feels like, no budget?  I love having unique pieces that can't be duplicated today. I love how each piece has a story to tell - where it came from and where it's going. Whenever I purchase something, I always ask where it came from and that truly brings it to life.  They are little old souls not ready to leave us yet.  Did I get a little weird on you guys?  These are some of my favorite little fancys;) *spoiler alert: not everything is technically "furniture"  1. "The teal chair"  Purchased Circa 2007 That's what we call this cutie. This is where it all began - my first piece. Then like a drug I just couldn't kick it.  This used to have rooster fabric that clearly wasn...

and the rest is history..

I'm not much of a history buff, but since I got so much great feedback from my little post about the pictures of the original homeowner I received from a previous homeowner - I have to give the people what they want - and unfortunately for me, it's some history..  Sometimes I find it hard to grasp how truly old our little Victorian actually is. I did some research on a [hopefully] reliable website  to see what was going on the year our house was built - 1891. I have heard from the appraiser that our house was actually built in 1888, but I have mostly found that it was actually built in 1891 - so until we validate otherwise, we are sticking with that:)  ... So 124 years ago we had a president named Benjamin Harrison in charge. What a dapper fellow he was. I wonder what year people started smiling in photos.. Some other big events in 1891: Feb 9th  -  1st shipment of asparagus arrives in SF from Sacramento Mar 28th  -  1st ...

friday fancys | shop-a-holic

"I'm so fancy. You already know." [had to do it] Today marks TWENTY posts for two | two | one! Sorry no giveaways today - whomp. BUT, we get to talk about my favorite thing in the entire world - SHOPPING!!  I have my few staple stores that I turn to for decor for the home. When I evaluate my plan for a space, my main goal is to make sure the room is timeless & classic. I always try to find unique pieces that will grab your attention. Obviously Target is my number ONE go to for finding home goods -but that would be me preaching to the choir telling you how awesome Target is... If that fails me, I step it up and go to these: 1.                                            I like HomeGoods [TjMaxx & Marshalls included] for all things accessories. I am an accessories girl for sure! You may not know it currently by the status of ...

friday fancys | currently;)

This week has been kinda crazy for me. It started out slow and then quickly escalated and came to a halt with migraine and then some weird things fell into my lap followed by many many work days - therefore, I am posting late this evening on friday fancys :(  This Friday Fancys I am going to hone in on all of the "currents" in my life.  Currently: my favorite scent If I could have this scent all over my house all year round and not be judged - I would do it. All candles and wall flower scents are currently on sale at Bath and Body Works/White Barn.  Currently: New Reads  This chick is hysterical. The first book to the sequel is White Girl Problems and it is just as funny as this one. I've just recently gotten back into reading on my Kindle and I finished the first one in a few days and am about 67% through this one!  Currently: Watching  Every year around this time, The Real World puts out ...

Friday Fancys!

Today is the debut for my Friday Fancys post!  Every Friday I want to do a fun post about "Whatever suits my Fancy"! Things that make me happy that I want to talk about that week - anything. Any topic, any subject - anything. I need ideas from all of you to get me through all 52 weeks this year too!  Recently my best friend reintroduced me into alliterations and I thought this would be the perfect place to expose my new found love:) As I mentioned in my New Year post - making routine posts for you to get excited about is one of my 2015 goals. I think it goes without saying that my main passion - among other things - is design and all things creative. You may know that about me, but do you know where I get my main inspiration? Do you know what really makes me tick? What really gives me goosebumps when I see a completed space on TV or in real life? Maybe you don't care, maybe you do - if you don't - you should probably hit that little red x in the left co...

certains things just belong at home..

The other day my aunt and I were pulling of the driveway about to do some shopping and someone had pulled off onto the side of the road. He waved us down and asked if I owned the house - it feels so good to say "Yes", although I'm a horrible liar and should have said "I will in 20-30 years."  He informed us that he wasn't a creep [which made me think he might just be a creep - just kidding!] and that he lived in the house two owners ago [from 1993-2001-ish]. He said he was unpacking some boxes and came across something he thought should stay with the house and thought I may like it. He saw that we were doing a lot on the house and thought we were doing a really good job - well duh.  He pulled out two nicely framed photos: This is the original home owner! Can you even right now? This was taken over 100 years ago, guys!     I zoomed in so we could go into greater detail. 1. There's a hammock on the porch - I love hammocks!...
