"I'm so fancy. You already know."

[had to do it]

Today marks TWENTY posts for two | two | one! Sorry no giveaways today - whomp. BUT, we get to talk about my favorite thing in the entire world - SHOPPING!!

I have my few staple stores that I turn to for decor for the home. When I evaluate my plan for a space, my main goal is to make sure the room is timeless & classic. I always try to find unique pieces that will grab your attention. Obviously Target is my number ONE go to for finding home goods -but that would be me preaching to the choir telling you how awesome Target is...
If that fails me, I step it up and go to these:

1.

I like HomeGoods [TjMaxx & Marshalls included] for all things accessories. I am an accessories girl for sure! You may not know it currently by the status of my house, because in the past I have made mistakes and went out and purchased a cart full of stuff and threw stuff on the walls out of impatience. This time around I learned from my mistakes and I "collect" my accessories as I go. I find that I get that collected look that I mentioned I strive for in a space.
HomeGoods also has a really nice selection of cute storage solutions - baskets, crates, trays etc. Really this place has it all - I can't even think of what it doesn't have!
I do have to say that the downfall of shopping here is not being able to purchase as many pieces as you needs - i.e. purchase tabletop items. You will have to run all over the country to find a complete set & that's if you're lucky.

2.

World Market has a really unique style - I can always find a place for one of their accessories. They have everything there - jewelry, food & wine, furniture, adorable bath accessories and my favorite - serving/dinner ware for the kitchen:)
Another one of my favorite finds from World Market is their serving utensils - they are super cute and inexpensive! Since recently hosting two holiday meals, we quickly realized we do not have a lot of serving utensils that you need to host a meal - ladles, small butter knives, small spoons for dips, a pie server etc. Immediately after Thanksgiving we went to World Market and stocked up for Christmas dinner! The closest WM is about an hour away from me so I can't always make a quick trip out there. Due to me having the worst memory known to man, I have made a Note in my phone dedicated to WM - this is where I keep tally of what I need the next time I make a trip out there:)

3.

Urban Outfitters isn't just for clothing - they have an amazing home decor section that I just adore! I could buy just about everything in this darn place. My favorite find at UO is in the bath department - they have the cutest shelving storage options, very unique and functional.  They also have a really cute furniture selection. Most importantly, everything is very unique - which I love! Again, I do not have an UO very close to home, but when I find one I just have to take a stop in the home decor section :)

4.

I LOVE West Elm. Love. I turn into a child when I walk into this place - my husband knows he's gotta hold my hand a keep me close when we go in here. I just have to touch all the the fabrics of the bedding, I have to smell all the candles, I have to pick up every piece of serving ware - that's my weakness, serving/dinner ware. I love plates and mini dipping bowls and mugs and cutie cups and platters and trays - need I go on? Everything at WE has a really nice quality to it - and if you get it on sale you feel like a million bucks (they have great sales, you just have to keep your eye out for them)! WE has an amazing selection of curtains and rugs - I'm lucky to have 20+ windows in the house that need coverings and wood floors throughout:)

I have a weakness and Anthro knows about it. I am lucky that I don't have one very close to me because I go nuts when I enter the giant double doors here. The designers that they carry are so talented. Anthro is a bit pricey for my budget so I usually end up getting a statement piece to center the room around. They have the cutest of everything here - kitchen accessories, bathroom accessories, bedding etc - they also carry the best candle line EVER Capri Blue [Volcano is my personal favorite] pricey, but so worth it to have that scent travel throughout your home:)  If you are able to splurge on cabinet hardware - Anthro has an amazing selection of draw pulls and knobs, very unique and timeless.

These are just a few of my favorite stores - I hope I either reinforced your love for them or introduced you to a new place to try for decor of your home! The best thing about some of these is they also carry clothes!
I am always on the lookout for more places to try - feel free to leave a comment with your favorite shops to drop by when  you need a special piece.

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
