Happy 124th!

Exactly one year ago today we made one of the biggest change in our lives and we signed our lives over to our mortgage  closed on our very first home! We will forever celebrate this day as a birthday for our house - I always find any excuse to bake a cake and buy gifts :) We originally had huge plans of doing projects around the house all day. That was quickly squashed by the rain and our pup had a bit of an emergency and needed to be rushed to the vet this morning. She would be quite embarrassed if I went into anymore detail.. In the end we ended up doing at least a few things that we have been wanting to get done - like painting the ugly yellow walls in the basement!  . . . So much has happened in the last year for us: We updated and cleaned up the entire exterior: We went from this... To this! New roof Fresh paint Spruced up fence Updated door New windows We completely demoed the upstairs bathroom : Going from this: ...

change is good.

So, remember a few weeks ago when hubs and I went to the meeting with the Historical Society? Well... I work there now.  For those of you that don't  know me, I was  employed by a prestigious financial center as a professional bank teller. I have been unhappy there for months but didn't know what I needed to do to turn things around for me. Start a new job and be unhappy there in a few months? Continue on this toxic path and find myself in a bad place? Or quit? I took the latter.  Recently, I read an article that was titled " How quitting my corporate job for my startup dream f***ed my life up ". I'm not sure why I felt I should open the link because I was in a fragile state already, but in the end it was a happy story for this particular person - that's what I'm working towards.  Originally, I was going to just quit and start from there. I had no plans to search for another corporate job - zero. I was going to spend mo...

friday fancys | dream house

Boy, am I glad it's finally Friday!  The weather has been just awful the past few days - I cannot wait until SUMMER!  I thought this Friday I would talk about what my ideal dream house actually would consist of. I'm not talking wood floors or a claw foot tub, I'm talking the things that you really can't change.  Back before we were searching for our house, we were planning on building our dream house instead of purchasing an already built home. We are lucky enough to know a great contractor that would be happy to help us in the process of the big build. Unfortunately, too many things were pointing to this not happening:( For starters, the lot that we fell in love with was zoned commercial [meaning it needs to have a commercial building built on it - i.e a business]. It was in the middle of a neighborhood.. I guess in the 70s it had a bakery built on the property causing it to remain commercial. Okay, we can request that it would be rezoned to res...

friday fancys | historical society

Happy Good Friday Peeps! I am all sorts of giddy today! I am not sure, but I would like to give full credit to my new find - the 60s, 70s & 80s station on My Pandora - it just makes me so happy:)  It could also be because I am currently watching Into the Woods - so picture this post in the form of a musical! ...  I have been sick on the sofa since Sunday and today was the first day of me feeling good. I hope all of you are lucky enough to have missed that plague that was/is going around!  Lots going on at two two one as of late - the side street that is the entrance to our driveway had a gaping hole in it yesterday morning! I think it was actually a water main break [thank God we have our own well!] but I would like to think it was something more exciting - like a sinkhole.. I'm pretty sure I actually saw a Hummer sticking out, but I can't be positive.  I felt like an old lady staring out the window and checking on the pro...
