friday fancys | livin' small

It has been well over a month since the last I posted but we have been so busy in the yard! It still looks like shit if that was your next question..
We've been growing grass and trying to figure out the layout for landscape in all parts of the yard. I think it is extra hard for us because we are basically starting from scratch. We're slowly realizing we're not landscape designers.. If anyone has an expertise in landscaping - PLEASE contact me ASAP before we get evicted.. We're starting to look like a foreclosure -- again..

Anyways..
HAPPY FRIDAY!

I'm feeling fancy:)

It's been a minute since I did a friday fancys but I think today is a perfect day!

More than anything in the world right now - I want a tiny house.
That may come to a surprise to most, BUT of course I would have a large shed/barn for all of my furniture and home accessories.

I have recently become obsessed with "Tiny House, Big Living" on HGTV. There are many shows out now for the tiny house enthusiast, but I lean towards this one because they are regular people actually building and personalizing their tiny homes. The others are usually tiny house hunting, etc.

After watching 2398472374 episodes of this, I have a few ideas on how I would want my tiny house to look. Of course, mine would be a little larger than the average - I mean my clawfoot tub has to go somewhere..

I really like the tiny homes that actually look like miniature homes, not a trailer/RV. Mine would probably have movable furniture as I like to switch things up.. often.

I also like the amount of personality you can put into your tiny home. I've seen some really creative ways to incorporate extra storage or decor into the space. You could go so many different directions!

Hubs and I were talking and we thought it would be perfect as a traveling vacation home. We could have all the necessities of a home but we can take it pretty much anywhere! That way I could keep my big house and have my tiny house too:) - You know have my cake and eat it too kinda thing?

It would really force us to go out and explore and enjoy the outdoors a little more. I may park it in my driveway and just hang out in it every once in awhile..

This is just a simple and minimalistic way of living, I envy those who do this as their everyday life.

As an alternative, I could build myself a tree house in my yard OR build a vacation shot gun house much like the one from Fixer Upper last season!

Amazing open floor plan stopping the space from feeling cramped.

Adorable yet functional loft space for extra storage, sleeping or office space.

Although, I would probably switch the exterior for something more like this:

*swoon

So who wants to start a tiny house neighborhood with me!?@#

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
