Lately..

Okay, y'all. I know I have let you down on the OCD Challenge as I see it is now APRIL!
BUT I am finally motivated to update you guys on what's been happening at two two one.

The last few weeks have been super hectic - which is no excuse, but I still want to brag about what I've been doing;)

As most of you know, coffee - particularly Starbucks - is my ultimate weakness. I've been getting it way too  much lately and I've been noticing a little extra.. baggage.. around the midsection. I've decided to substitute coffee for tea and start working out. If you know anything about me, it's that I probably have "worked out" a total of 40 minutes my ENTIRE adult life. Seriously. I'm that pathetic. My first time trying a double shot on ice from Starbucks, I decided I needed to go for a jog - my husband looked at me like I was nuts and I  snuck out and ran off in the middle of the night. He probably thought I was never to return. I came back and I got his usual "you're crazy, I'm not sure if I still love you - it's 11 pm.." reaction.
SO, I have been working out about 3-4 days a week and I haven't had any type of coffee (Starbucks or home brew) since SATURDAY!!! Like, wha? If you're giving me the same look my husband did - which kinda looks like the emoji that is rolling is eyes - then maybe we're not meant to be friends because I'm so proud of that little defeat!

I am now sitting at my finally cleared desk - seriously, y'all, it was bad - in my semi organized office, enjoying a No Whip White Mocha from Starbucks as my treat for doing so good:)

. . .

I am sure you guys know, and have seen on TV, the road blocks  you run into when working on a project. February and March we hit big road blocks..
Our project for February was the front foyer - we planned to replace the front door with an old door I found online and put paneling over the prickled plaster and replace the paint coated FUGLY trim - creating a really elegant entryway. My contractor uncle has had an extremely busy schedule and had to put the project on hold for awhile. Okay, no big deal, we will just make this a two month project. ...okay three months - for the tiniest room in the house.. yeaaaaa

Anyways. The front door has been replaced and the old door went to the back entryway - now we have 2 brand new (technically one is decades old, but you get what I'm saying!) doors and it's so perfect for us! We also have new hardware on them and we went with a modern keypad at the back entry since this is the one we regularly use.

Now we need to have the paneling put up and painted which should happen in the next few weeks - per uncle. There is not much styling to be done here since it is such a small space - just a small table or cabinet and voila!

Hopefully within the next few weeks I will finally be posting about a finished entry and then onto the next for us!  Cross your fingers.

. . .

In other news, I applied to be on HGTV.. Yea, that happened.

It's for a show called Renovation Realities and it is a total DIY project that we would be doing. As I said before, I'm not very DIY.. My flaw is starting a "DIY" project and not wanting to finish it -  God knows, I have 289374802364 of those in the house right now...

I emailed them a detailed description of what we wanted to do with the kitchen - I included photos of us, the house and the project to be done etc. They quickly responded and let us know a little bit more of the "rules" - we can have a plumber or electrician for safety purposes but they do NOT allow professional contractors on the show. Well, there goes our chances.. My uncle would be doing quite a bit of the work on the project because he's a professional... and I'm not. Our floors are not leveled, the walls are crooked and I'm not sure that this would be a project we would like to take on ourselves.. especially on television.

I'm still proud that we did it regardless of the turnout. After thinking about it we decided that the kitchen reno is more in reach for us after making a few changes. We now have a GoFundMe started - please contact me if you would like to make a donation!

Did I mention we have been working in the kitchen with NO oven for 2 years now.. We NEED an oven people!

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
