Y'all! THIS IS MY FIFTIETH POST!!!

I am so proud of myself for keeping this up. I have you guys to thank for keeping me motivated:) I hear so many kind words and I even hear that I have motivated you
I know a few friends that started blogs behind me and they longer post - sad day, but it's a tough job people!

Hubby surprised me with my very own Waco shirt for Valentine's Day!
I'm harnessing my inner Joanna Gaines:)

Some really big things have been going on over the last few weeks and I am finally ready to announce! This is where I would normally say "WE'RE EXPECTING" but as you know, I've already used that click bate..

So.... There are a series of events that happened to get us to the big reveal, so bare with me here!

. . .

It may not come to you as a surprise but I have a passion for design and everything that follows it. Recently I was asked what the "point" of my blog was, is it just a hobby? I was asked.. I'm pretty sure it was meant as an insult..

According to Wikipedia.com [usually the least trusted resource site in America] - hobby is a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time. Hobbies can include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements.

This is not just a hobby for me. None of that definition comes even remotely close to what I do. I do NOT just do this in my leisure time, nor do I collect anything!

So, before I go on a rant that may cause me to lose a hefty amount of followers, please don't insult me by calling me a hobbyist or a DIYer, please.

. . .
A few weeks ago I was asked to help my sister-in-law Katie and her husband King with the design of their dining room. They live in ATLANTA! Okay, I can do this, it's just 700 miles away - no big deal..
They have been keeping up with the OCD project and really liked the idea of completing one room at a time - it puts all of your focus on one area at a time making you feel more accomplished in the end.
I virtually designed their room from miles away and they love how it turned out! I chose a paint color via text message, a light fixture and curtains via FaceTime and furniture via online furniture shops!

Anyways..

My brother-in-law's mother (stick with me here) Kim saw the space and loved it. She messaged me and said she would be doing her kitchen in the summer and would like to hire me as her designer for the project! ME! I can't even believe it!
I quickly called my mother-in-law Jane to see when her next trip to Atlanta would be so I can get a head start on this new adventure! I just got back last week and the initial meeting went great - she has a really unique style and I'm super excited to work with her!
This is one of the biggest projects that I have worked on outside of my myself. We are choosing countertops and cabinet colors, all new floors throughout and paint colors. All of my favorite things!

. . .

How is everyone's February project coming along!? Only a few more days!

I have not been to Atlanta since we moved back home over 3 years ago so it was a fun-filled week for me:)

I went to Art's Bagel - best bagels ever..
I enjoyed my favorite hibachi dinner Okinawa... twice. I may have trucked 2 extra orders home too...

I spent the day with my best friend Lucy and her husband Keith - the sweetest couple I know!
Three years apart and it didn't feel like we spent a day away from each other - we picked up right where we left off:)

I also put in a bit of design work at Katie and King's house! I put the furniture together and helped figure out a layout that worked well with the space. We also got started on another project too!

Of course most importantly, I got to spend quality time with each of my minis:)

sans little Bentley :(

Also, I have said "y'all" more in the last 2 weeks than I ever had in the year and a half living there!

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
