stairway to... upstairs

So.. it's been awhile y'all..

We have been busy planning and preparing for Thanksgiving at our house again:) Gosh, it was so fun! We were lucky enough to have both of our families come together this year - M's quiet, reserved, normal family and my crazy, loud, yet still awesome family! It was a great mix - although M's family said they wouldn't be able to make it to Thanksgiving dinner next year...

I would post photos of our lovely table but it looks oddly like last year's table..

Moving on.

We also put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving like we do every year and that too looks slightly like last year's tree...

There's always next year to change things up - this year my mind just don't want to be creative I guess.

so..

We have a couple of projects going on at the moment.

We recently painted the living.. again.

Painted the trim in the living room.

Painted the stairway to the second level.

and our biggest project..

We painted the stairs on the main staircase! Oh man they look phenomenal...

Since having the wood floors refinished, the stairs seemed out of place. The stain on the treads didn't compliment the dark in the floors anymore. The risers were coated with layers and layers of cheap paint - they just needed a complete overhaul.

If you remember awhile back I painted the dirty risers - this was phase 1.

Phase 2 kicked in with this project.

First it was going to just be painting the treads, then I remembered a post that I saw on Pinterest and decided to go big or go home with these guys!

How beautiful are these??

I love the subtle detail that the paintable wallpaper adds. We would have loved to stain the stairs but it just wasn't going to work out that way.

Dirty and gross to slightly less bad..

We are so obsessed with them - they look amazing and we are so love with the results:)

Since they are still deadly steep and narrow, phase 3 would be completely tear out stairs.. That will be probably 10 years from now..

My lovely aunt came over to assist in taking our Christmas photos for us and Tiffany was such a good girl! We got some really cute shots of her in front of the tree:)

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it. The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. certains things just belong at home..

The other day my aunt and I were pulling of the driveway about to do some shopping and someone had pulled off onto the side of the road. He waved us down and asked if I owned the house - it feels so good to say "Yes", although I'm a horrible liar and should have said "I will in 20-30 years." He informed us that he wasn't a creep [which made me think he might just be a creep - just kidding!] and that he lived in the house two owners ago [from 1993-2001-ish]. He said he was unpacking some boxes and came across something he thought should stay with the house and thought I may like it. He saw that we were doing a lot on the house and thought we were doing a really good job - well duh. He pulled out two nicely framed photos: This is the original home owner! Can you even right now?
