friday fancies | birthday month

Happy October All!

Birthday month has come and gone and I'm gaining back my strength from birthday hangover. We celebrate birthdays big over here - it's a celebration all month long! This year hubs planned an amazing day:

1. Breakfast and gifts in bed - extra bacon.

2. Surprise trip to the orchard where we got married.

3. Lunch at an amazing restaurant [I actually started the leftovers on fire in the toaster oven just now..]

4. Cupcakes at the place we had our wedding cake made - yummmmm! I'm currently eating my leftovers from there now:)

5. Quick nap in the car ride home - my favorite

6. Barnes and Noble - where I received the best video call of the day! All my nieces and nephew NAKED in the bath tub singing "Happy Birthday TTK" as I stood in the middle of the store! [TTK= Auntie K - I love having a special name only for me:)]

7. Shopping!

8. Dinner at Cheesecake Factory!

9. FREE Starbucks Venti No Whip White Mocha with an EXTRA shot:) - tradition every year

10. Cuddle time with M to end the day:)

Overall, I had an amazing day and I want to thank everyone who helped me celebrate throughout the month:) You are all very special to me!

. . .

You can always tell when birthday is right around the corner because it's when all of the coupons start flowing in and free meals and drinks are slid your way - it's the best:) Every year I get more and more coupons or freebies in the mail but I know there are still so many available out there. I've put together a short list of my favorites:

Ulta Beauty Supply

Recently I was upgraded to the premium reward program that they offer. Whatever that means, it's probably their way of saying I spend too much there - M would agree to that.

DSW

I didn't end up using their coupon this year but they sent me a $5 off my purchase. This one can differ by how much you spend at the store throughout the year. $5 was not worth my time this year..

 Victoria's Secret

Again, if you shop there more often, you could probably get a larger coupon, but I received a $10 off coupon good through the month of September. Of course I had to order 2 pairs of yoga pants:)

Starbucks

Every year you get a free drink on your birthday if you sign up for their reward program. You also get a free drink for every 12 drinks that you buy. Be sure to have them ring things up separately, if you are buying more than one drink, because each purchase counts as a "star" on your account!

Although these are only a FEW of my favorites, I figured I would try to get your juices flowing and see which ones you get excited to receive in the mail!

. . .

What are some of your favorite things to do in the fall - besides wear uggs and order Pumpkin Spice Lattes [I don't do either of those but I heard basic b*tches do]??

I just got like 2342348 books for my birthday and I'm so excited to let you guys know what I think of them! What are you all reading - anything good??

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
