It's FRIDAY and I'm feeling FANCY!!!
Guys, I am so proud and impressed with myself lately. I have built more in the last two weeks than I ever thought I would in my entire life! I've learned how to use really big and dangerous tools - I still can't even.
Here's where it started..
I have this mirror that my bestie and I joke and say it's magical. This mirror makes you look suppppper thin and tall. I never thought about it until I looked in my other mirror and was like omg I'm actually pretty plump. From that day forward I pledged never to get rid of said mirror.
Now this cheap thing just came from Target for $6 or so. Cheap frame, poor quality - nothing to write home about. Ever since moving in (over a year ago...) this mirror has just been taken from room to room leaning against the wall. It was finally time to hang this thing and make it permanent.
Dilemma - I will NOT hang it on the wall with this cheap-o frame.
Solution - I will build one!
Realization - Okay I want it to be an actual piece of furniture now and this is a much bigger project than I originally thought..
I obviously referred to Pinterest for ideas - this would be a perfect solution to our tiny upstairs hallway! We don't have a large linen closet in the bathroom - actually we don't have any closets in the house other than the bedroom closets..
Where am I going to store my nail polish and jewelry??
I called my uncle - you know the man who raised me and brought my house back to life? Yeah, him.
"Can you help me make this simple frame on a mirror?"
"Sure."
"Okay, I actually want to make a cabinet now..."
"Shit."
..is pretty much how it went..
. . .
He recently built this amazing workshop in the back of the barn and it is the perfect place to do projects. Everything is out and ready for use. It's so seamless (when it's clean that is..) you can go from machine to machine without having to move things around or pull things out. It's great, now I want one.. Unc says no.
Whomp.
It took one day and a few beers to get just the frame.
It took another day and a few more beers to get the cabinet created to attach to the mirror.
I'm obsessed with the results..
Of course I will give you a side by side of the space before and after:)
I still have to get it styled with all of my pretties:)
These photos look like they were taken by a 2 year old because the hall is that small. Well, and I was trying to not get my raggedy self in the reflection..
We still have a lot to do in the hall but at least I have a place to store my nail polish and jewelry! Phew!

My next project is almost completed. Last weekend we made a pair of bag game boxes - they are beyond amazing.. Can't wait to show you after some stain and possible artwork:)
Stay Tuned!
