friday fancys | let's take a trip!

Phew! We made it:)

I don't know about you, but I am ready for a vacation! I am sick of this snow..
Unfortunately, I don't have one scheduled from work until May - a girl can dream ;)

This is me at the beach..

I have had my fair share of trips in my life - Florida, Texas, Colorado, ALL of the East Coast (awesome trip BTW!), etc.  I still have a few places that I have yet to visit, though...

1. Seattle

My love for coffee has pushed me to want to visit here - as well as 50 Shades of Grey...
I think there is so much here to see - it would not disappoint :) A friend of mine was here earlier this week and I was so jealous as she sent photos of her site seeing!

2. Portland

I feel like Portland is very similar to Seattle, but it still deserves its own spot on the list:) I feel it would just be such a "chill" trip.

Here is a nice demonstration of a comparison of the two:

3. California

Yes, I have wanted to visit Cali all of my life. I think it would probably take 3 trips - at least - to satisfy my need to visit here. I want to see all of it, really - Hollywood, LA, San Francisco, Laguna, The O.C(!) - everywhere.

I want to see the painted ladies especially - Full House anyone?!

I WILL make it to California some day - maybe when I hit the lotto:)

4. Canada

Yes - Canada made my list.

Ever notice on design shows - if in the U.S, they announce the actual city (San Francisco, Chicago, Waco etc.) but if it's in Canada - they never actually say where it's at, they just say "the city"... Really - why so secretive??
With that being said, Canada really does know design. They have many great designers, awesome shows and fabulous cities - just great taste all around, really:)

Does anyone share the same places as me? Have you visited any of the places I haven't yet been to?

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
