friday fancys | television sets

Happy Friday all! You made it through the week - can you believe it? I know I barely did..

One of our favorite things to do in our free time is watch television. I don't even want to try and calculate how many hours we spend in front of the TV in a week.
I sometimes watch a show for the drama and sometimes for the design of a set. I have a few favorite show sets and most just so happen to be some of my favorite dramas too:)

1. Witches of East End

Although this show has been cancelled recently (pause for moment of silence) - it doesn't change the fact that it has an amazingly put together set. The main family lives in a massive Victorian home that has adorable charm. You can see the attention to detail in this house - detailed trim, beautiful transom windows, everything!
My favorite space is the kitchen, but every room has amazing design - even the library that one character works at!

Who wouldn't love to just have a cup of tea in this lovely living room?

This is a close up shot of my favorite detailing in the house - from the kitchen. The vintage light, the painted paneling on the wall, the gorgeous transom window - on point.

2. The Vampire Diaries

I may be a little too old to be still watching this show, but I can't seem to kick it!
On top of beautiful homes, these characters have the best wardrobe!  Why can't I put something so simple together?

This is a shot of Elena and Caroline's dorm room at "Whitmore College". Ya, I've convinced myself that dorm rooms do not look like this in real life. Hubs went to a very nice private college and his dorm room was the nicest I've seen - until TVD.. It doesn't remotely look like this..

This is Elena Gilbert's house (before it burned down if you are familiar with the show). The porch is just phenomenal. Need I say more?

I'll take it.

3. Pretty Little Liars - Duh

Bet ya didn't see that coming!
PLL has everything - it IS my favorite show on the Earth..  I love the wardrobes, the characters, the boys;)
While I contemplate who the next A is, I try to figure out how to get my house to look like theirs.. I am most in love with Spencer and Aria's houses, or Ezra's quaint apartment - but really they are all great:)

Really? Even their therapists office is cute..

I love the stacked books and layered linens on the bed - it makes it feel so relaxed yet pulled together.  It also helps that Aria is one of my favorite characters:)

Spencer's kitchen always seems to be a big gathering point for all of their A theories and it definitely holds its own.

I have many more favorites but these are for sure the top 3.

We have been busy hanging curtains here over the last few days and I hope to have something ready for y'all soon!

Also, who do you think A is??

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
