Let's stop talking about that stink in' dress starting NOW!

Cheers to the freakin' weekend!
Who's done with this week already?
 *raises both hands*
We should start a petition to make Monday part of the weekend, no?

For the past I don't know how many months, I've been working every Saturday morning unless I have previously requested off for an event of some sort or it was so last minute that nothing productive could be planned ahead of time. Therefore I have not been able to have some family time at home with the husband and get some projects finished because by the time I get home - hubby is on his way to work at his parents restaurant - weekend shot.

Soooo -- I finally have a planned ahead Saturday off of work tomorrow! I'm not even sure what to do with myself - what do I do on a Saturday off?

I went through my list of favorite things to do on Saturdays so this one can be just right - I have quite a list...

1. Sleeping In

Who the heck doesn't love sleeping in? Now-a-days my sleeping in is basically 8:30-9:00am.. Which I like because I can "sleep in" and still accomplish something that day!  Back in the day it was 1:00pm.

* I just had to Google "sleeping puppy"... Now I've planned a trip to the pet store for tomorrow instead of anything productive..

2. Actually enjoying a breakfast instead of scarfing it down...

I feel like too many times I'm calling down to hubs "start my bowl of cereal, I'm almost late!". It feels good to stop and cook a decent breakfast together (9/10 times its bacon and something else;)) and enjoy a cup of coffee while we plan the day ahead. It doesn't happen often - but we all need to slow down sometimes.

Hub knows how I feel about coffee mugs - I use them for every beverage basically. One year he got me these cuties [this is not my actual photo] and he was just so proud of his purchase:)

3. Building a giant nest in the living room

Sometimes you just want to have a lounge day and that is totally acceptable. I am a huge fan of just vegging out in the living room and never seeing the light of day.

Here at 221 we are a little bit more simple when it comes to making our snuggle nest/fort. Ours consist of cozy comforters and piles of pillows. We should think about adding lanterns though!
Last weekend we decided to make a nest since we hadn't since living in the city. It started as a great idea, but as the night progressed we ended up taking a "nap" at 9:30pm and then became too tired to climb the stairs to a real bed.. We ended up sleeping in the living room until the next morning! Boy, did our bodies regret that - it took me 4 days to knock the hunch out of my back:/

4. Antiquing. Duh!

I get so giddy when husband says we can go for the day - so excited. If even just to look and not purchase - I am usually happy with that:)

Antiquing has good days and bad. Even if I don't come home with any new finds - I usually come home content and with some new ideas for the home.

After going through all of my favorite things to do on Saturdays - it looks like I need to have the next four off right?:)

Talk about all of this time off of work - somehow I managed to have yesterday until Tuesday off of work... I have many things I can be finishing up now!

Keep your design questions coming - it keeps me busy:)

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
