Thanksgiving!

Boy, it has been a busy last few weeks! I was working double time at work, Thanksgiving snuck up on me and we had a few gathering here at home base! We all know how much I love to entertain:)

Since I like to do things in chronological order - let's start with Thanksgiving!
We hosted the big dinner here for the first time and we basically had no idea what we were getting ourselves into..
Luckily my mother-in-law reminded me that I may not have a lot of things we may need for Thursday  - so we went out on a mission to find a platter and gravy boat and cutting board and she came ready with the bird and ham, etc. I think I ended up buying 2 cans of olives? ..and toilet paper..  ya - I hosted Thanksgiving..  Overall for our first Holiday hosting, family made it very easy because everyone pitched in by bringing a dish or helping out in the kitchen:)

Here is my table set up before grub:

I am a lover of all things : serving dishes. I have to put the blinders on when I walk through that special section at Target. I can't get caught alone at West Elm or World Market. I. Can't. Even. Mike did say in sickness and in health though..

These little place mats are PAPER! I got a few compliments on them and I have been wanting them for a few years and I finally told husbie  "This is the year that I will get my paper placemats mats, it's time" You can find them HERE!  <That's for you Katie T.

The two round gold placemats (towards the center of the table) are one of my favorite finds because my great friend Ashley assisted me in finding them! She actually has a great eye - I'm kinda worried for my career:/ We were on a mission to find things for the house for Thanksgiving and Ashley was doing a better job than me at scoping out finds and we called her my little ADIT |  Apprentice Designer in Training - She good.

We had 8 people eating at dinner and as I've mentioned before I only have 7 sets of china.. So what does a girl do that's dying to use her china?? Mix it up, duh. So I used half china and half every day dinnerware. I am not a fan of matchy matchy anyways - I like some dimension.

I have been on the lookout for a bar cart for a while now. All my booze are takin' up pantry space yo. But really, my pantry is the size of an acorn and these squirrels need a place to store their nuts.
So.. of course I found this little cutie on Craigslist and had my mom pick it up and bring it to Thanksgiving:) I used it as our coffee cart for after dinner with pie and treats!

This is where I displayed the treats for after dinner - of course I didn't get an after photo because I was too full to get off of my chair :/

AND With grub:

yum:)

I'm standing on a chair in order to take this picture. :)

I hope you all enjoyed your time with your families as much as we enjoyed our time!

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

certains things just belong at home..

The other day my aunt and I were pulling of the driveway about to do some shopping and someone had pulled off onto the side of the road. He waved us down and asked if I owned the house - it feels so good to say "Yes", although I'm a horrible liar and should have said "I will in 20-30 years."  He informed us that he wasn't a creep [which made me think he might just be a creep - just kidding!] and that he lived in the house two owners ago [from 1993-2001-ish]. He said he was unpacking some boxes and came across something he thought should stay with the house and thought I may like it. He saw that we were doing a lot on the house and thought we were doing a really good job - well duh.  He pulled out two nicely framed photos: This is the original home owner! Can you even right now? This was taken over 100 years ago, guys!     I zoomed in so we could go into greater detail. 1. There's a hammock on the porch - I love hammocks!...

Friday Fancys!

Today is the debut for my Friday Fancys post!  Every Friday I want to do a fun post about "Whatever suits my Fancy"! Things that make me happy that I want to talk about that week - anything. Any topic, any subject - anything. I need ideas from all of you to get me through all 52 weeks this year too!  Recently my best friend reintroduced me into alliterations and I thought this would be the perfect place to expose my new found love:) As I mentioned in my New Year post - making routine posts for you to get excited about is one of my 2015 goals. I think it goes without saying that my main passion - among other things - is design and all things creative. You may know that about me, but do you know where I get my main inspiration? Do you know what really makes me tick? What really gives me goosebumps when I see a completed space on TV or in real life? Maybe you don't care, maybe you do - if you don't - you should probably hit that little red x in the left co...
