I have been getting many requests about my holiday decor - it's so nice to hear people asking when I will be posting next before I have the chance to post! I am really excited about this one guys - I hope I live up to your Christmas expectations:)
This is actually the first year that I am in love with my holiday decor. Although every year I get excited about the tree going up and all the ornaments and "pokes" and ribbon I bought to wrap around the branches - it sucks. Every. Single. Year. So this year I only got excited on the inside.
I was having a Girl's Night after I planned on putting up the tree and I was getting really nervous about my whimpy white tree - everyone usually has high expectations of my decor, I don't know why though... We got this tree from Walmart about 4 years ago for $35 dollars just so we could have a tree - I always dreamed of having a white tree as a kid. Little did we know it was see through but not in a cute Charlie Brown kind of way - more like a we-bought-this-from-Walmart-sort-of-way. It was coming down to the time we needed to decide if we were going to buy a tree or not - we had/have a lot of expenses we should be putting our money towards instead of on a tree this year.
Fast forward to us standing in Menards - we found the tree we picked out for $40 cheaper than we originally saw it for - swipe!
This tree is just beautiful - the branches have dimension. It doesn't look like it's trying too hard to be a real tree but it doesn't look too fake at the same time.
It's so full too - it's just perfect :)
Ready?
I wanted to go with a black and white look with a little bit of metallics mixed in. I decided against putting up my regular ornaments so it wouldn't take away from the style that I was going for.
The tree skirt I picked out is from Target and it has a background of creamy grey with treads or gold and silver - I like that I can use it with any style I decide to go with for years to come.
I am so excited about our new stockings! Here's a little fun fact about me: Stockings are my favorite - I open those first and if you fill it with crummy (i.e. candy) things then Christmas is ruined. I hate candy. Mine was always filled with office supplies and my siblings always got candy:)
My aunt and I made a trip to Goodwill and scoured the racks for cute-ugly sweaters [I will probably do a post dedicated to strictly stockings in the future - we are doing a bunch for my different Christmas styles and future kids etc]
I love the idea of our future Apes ( I've decided to call our kids, Apes - get it?) coming down the stairs and seeing the lights on the tree and rounding the banister and seeing gifts piled high:)
See, you can't see through into my kitchen it's so full!
I'm hoping throughout the month to continue adding more holiday decor but I figured the tree was the most important to get out there:) If not, I have some great ideas for next year (for some reason I feel like I say that every year...)

I forgot to ask in the last post - do you guys have any holiday family traditions? For instance, my family plays crazy bunco on Thanksgiving every year. We either grab random things from our homes that we no longer want - knick knacks, dvds or games etc or we get some things from the dollar store. Then we roll the dice and fight over gifts for about 15 minutes :) I'd love to hear what others do around the holidays!
Happy Holidays All!
