i can't even right now

WARNING: I get a little weird/giddy when I get around fabric. It just makes me so happy the things it makes me feel inside! Okay, forget I said that...

The other day my 15 year brother and I were strolling through JoAnn Fabrics looking for new material for the dining room chairs. I really had no idea what I was going to get - my aunt had just texted me and asked if I was working - she wanted to go to JoAnn's today. I said "Great, I'll be there in 20 minutes." What was I thinking? I didn't have any idea what I really needed! I didn't even know how many dining room chairs I had. I actually didn't even know the color scheme I was going to go with... Actually that's the best way to do it with me - thank goodness I did because I came back with the most beautiful material ever (to me at least)!

Of course the photo doesn't do it justice..

The best part is my little brother was a part in helping me pick these out too:) He was so cute and actually giving his advice unlike my husband who just nods and looks at his phone the whole time. "Honey, you want hot pink shag in the master?" *nods* " 'Kay"

My original plan was - wait there was no original plan.. I guess I didn't think about getting 3 different materials to begin with, but I thought I would step outside that "old me" box - instead of getting just one fabric to cover every seat.
I know I have mentioned this before but I love mix matching things lately - it really gives a collected feel to a room, which in turn makes it feel timeless - i.e my overall goal.

Of course all three fabrics are from the Nate Berkus line at JoAnn Fabrics.. Did I mention how much I love Nate? Yes, we are on first name basis with each other.

Flash forward to yesterday (Saturday): Hubby was at work and Wifey was at home with nothing to do. I could do the usual, binge watch Degrassi and eat popcorn and watch Manny's hair change in ridiculous ways.. OR I could get a crazy amount of motivation that I haven't had in weeks! I took the latter if you couldn't guess. So first I did some things in some places that I can't tell you quite yet because I have a post planned for next week that I am so excited to get out to you guys! THEN I decided to cover two of the six dining chairs (the other four have to have their seats cut)! What a spontaneous house wife I was this Saturday evening, right?

Here is the semi original chair. Of course I forgot to take a before before of the color of the chair... It was like a medium to light wood color and I spray painted it a creamy white color.

I mean I am not the prettiest of upholsterers but c'mon this is not pretty at all. I know no one will see it, but I will always know what the bottom looks like.. Shoddy work I tell ya.

So I got two of these from the little thrift store down the street for $8 a piece... Oh wait, it was half off day - so I got them for $8 total!! Ha - I'm so good sometimes I can't help myself.

I went back and forth with myself for a while on how to cover these - the same material or two different? I finalized on different - I always say go big or go home. Except with the iPhone 6 - they ran out of the 6+ and I was going to go home with nothing or just the 6:( Sad  day - I really wanted that 6+..

Anyways...

They're like brother and sister, it's so cute:)

Since I know someone (ahem) will say something about little lady not being centered for my fellow OCD friends - I would like to say that was semi intentional semi accidental. I am starting to be more asymmetrical with my design technique lately and I find it helps with being more timeless and classic - the look I am going for. It was also a cutting mistake on my part and it just so happened to work in my favor - I love when things like that happen - I just try to make things work rather than panic:)

There you have it, my little weekend cuties:) I can't wait to finish the rest of the chairs, hopefully very soon!

{ : }

So what do you think of these guys?

Did I also mention that upholstering makes me want to go to the chiropractor? Yes, I need to be adjusted.. Know of any in the area?

I found the close-ups of the before and afters of the vent covers.. Yuck!

That is also another one of our projects for the far far future--stripping and painting all of the woodwork in the house. One project I do not really look forward to actually doing.

Happy Weekend friends!

Whoa! | Bathroom REupdate

Well it's been pretty damn long since I've given you guys any good stuff lately. I failed miserably at the OCD challenge last year and for that I am sorry. BUT we are back in action and we have decided to stick with working on one room at a time but not necessarily finish in a month's time. This really allows us to focus on one space and pay attention to every detail and really perfect it.  The first project of the year was the main bathroom. You may be saying "Hey, didn't she already do that one?" . Yes. Yes we did. I am a perfectionist and I knew it needed to be done again. I wasn't happy with the wall color and there were too many unfinished projects in the space. It was somewhat embarrassing when we had guests over and it looked like a Sundance film production office (whatever that looks like, I just made that up) exploded in there. I think it wasn't completed for so long because I was sort of scared to do some of the projects that needed to b...

in with the old | my best thrift finds

*as you read through this post, have  Thrift Shop by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore  [link attached] play in the background, as I did when I was posting this:)  My husband is - for lack of a better word - cheap. He means well, but it really puts a wrench in most of my design plans. This just makes me work ten times harder to find the best deal out there and still maintain the integrity of my design.  Where do you go for such deals you ask?  Goodwill, duh!  I'm obsessed. Luckily I can soothe my infatuations less than a mile from my house!  Of course I also take a stop into TJ Maxx that's right next door and Pot Belly's too, but that's a topic for another day..  I usually get to GW once a week and I can definitely tell when I haven't been in awhile. ...wow, it really is sounding like an addiction, huh? First, I scout out the furniture - usually I don't find anything because a) It's already been picked through or b) it's t...

our upstairs bath | total gut

This is probably to biggest demo project on the house. This is the yucky space previously known as "the bathroom". Yes, that is my husband in the reflection:) Apparently we forgot to get better "before" photos.. The dimensions of the room were 4x9--not even wide enough for a tub! So this was our first mission when planning out this tiny bath-make room for tub!  Here's a fun little fact: this is the only room in the house that I didn't step more than 2 feet in the doorway. That's how bad this space was!  Here's some fun demo that I luckily did not have to take part in any of it, not even clean up! This is the view coming from the front bedroom on the house. We also did some knocking down of walls and putting up of walls in this room. Luckily it was big enough and didn't take away too much space.  Little bro, pretending to help with the demo...  And this is the guy who was the muscle in all of this:)  ...
